Jet ski races targeted for Devils Lake
A movement is afoot to bring some of the world's most powerful jet skis to Lincoln City with two days of racing in May. The event, tentatively scheduled the weekend of May 18-19 at Regatta Grounds Park on Devils Lake, would feature various types of racing for virtually all ages and skill levels, promoter Roger Harnack of the Northwest Jet Sports Association said.

Personal watercraft are a popular toy, but does anyone need 25 — or more — of them? Charles Sims does, and he had to buy property adjacent to his Lakeland Village home to store them.
Presently, the 2003 carbureted two-stroke motor ban that goes into effect on January 1, 2013 only applies to personal watercraft (Jet-Skis, SeaDoos, WaveRunners, etc).
However, the National Park Service is currently working to propose a rule to implement Lake Mead NRA's 2002 Lake Management Plan. The plan, which went through an extensive public meeting and comment process, states the park's management strategy of banning all two-stroke motors not meeting 2006 EPA guidelines for the manufacture of marine motors.
2012 Hot Products World Finals Brief Report With Pro Weekend Results

The truck is loaded and we are heading back to the IJSBA office after a VERY SUCCESSFUL 2012 Hot Products World Finals. This is a brief report with legible results (hopefully this is the last year we use that old software which does a good job of scoring but a horrible job of issuing results for printing) from the Pro Weekend of Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7. We will issue a longer report next week.
Before we get to the results, here is a report in bullet point format:
The participant count was up for a third year in a row. This year, exactly 440 individual competitors made it to the line for a total of 893 entries. This is an increase from 414 pilots and 799 entries in 2011. For the last four years, the event has grown, participant wise, by more than 5%. Spectators were in increased attendance as well. Parking counts were up noticeably. In addition, the souvenir booth and the concessions stand both completely sold out. While it was a bummer to see people turned away, it was humbling to the sport when the grill got shut down early and the Shirt Werx booth was bare. We thank all of you who made it a priority to attend World Finals- especially in the face of some ugly fuel prices. Hot Products signed on for another year of Title Sponsorship. We will have details soon. The last two days were spent loading the truck and fielding numerous inquiries about sponsor and vending opportunities for next year. The strength of the event is as very high and we are grateful to everyone who has helped make it a success and attract the attention of some prestigious new sponsors. 2013 will be even bigger if this instant activity is an indicator of things to come. We don't have the exact numbers yet because the streaming system went through a maintenance cycle during the event but we know for sure that more than 70,000 unique viewers watched the live stream. This is huge and is surely part of the reason we are seeing such rapid outreach for the 2013 Hot Products World Finals
Kawasaki JetSki Ultra 300X Sweeps the Triple Crown of Offshore Racing Championship
Irvine, Calif. (September 18, 2012) – After winning the first two rounds of the Triple Crown of Offshore Endurance Racing, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Craig Warner completed the sweep by winning the final round from Dana Point, Calif. to Oceanside, Calif. and back. Besting second place by more than three minutes, Warner powered his JetSki Ultra 300X to an impressive win over fellow Kawasaki riders Scott Burtness, and Nick Vanis who completed the Kawasaki podium dominance.

Volkmar v. BRP US Inc.
A Settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit involving claims that certain 2004-2007 model year Supercharged Sea-Doo® watercraft have defective ceramic washers in the clutch assembly. The lawsuit claims that the washers can fail during normal operation and cause engine damage. BRP, the manufacturer and distributor of Sea-Doo® watercrafts, denies the washers are defective and denies that it did anything wrong. However, both sides have agreed to settle the case to avoid the cost, time, and risks associated with continuing the case.

Factory Zero - 2012 Hot Products World Finals Pro Freestyle contingency program

IJSBA has received this very excellent news from Factory Zero:
Factory Zero would like to offer an incentive for all Pro Freestyle competitors this year.
The winner of the Pro Freestyle competition at the 2012 Hot Products World Finals upon confirmation of the below requirement being met will be awarded a Factory Zero Jet Launcher Compact 2 Wheel Tote. Part number J-130S
The Pro Freestyle Competitor must apply two Factory Zero stickers to the Pro Freestyle competitors PWC (one on each side), the stickers must be visible and above the PWC bond line. Stickers will be available during the event and at the Pro Freestyle Riders Meeting @ 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 6th. Stickers must be applied before the competitor competes in Pro Freestyle Qualifying and must be on the PWC during all rounds of the 2012 Hot Products World Finals Pro Freestyle competition.
